There is a reason the Fein costs more than other multi tools;very well made tool- will last for many years; the simple and secure tool attachment device is hands down better than the ole screw or chuck process used on competitors ; excellent product- agree w/ other reviews that accessories are a little pricey, but if they are made as well as the tool then they are probably worth it.
This is the second Fein MultiMaster 250Q that I've purchased. The first was for one of my son-in-laws for Christmas. He's has his own handyman business and he absolutely loves this tool, therefore, when it was my other son-in-law's birthday I ordered one for him, also. They are both very happy with this multi-tasking tool.
This tool eats cutters some of which cost $50-$100 to replace and didn't even last for one job. There are no generic replacements and original equipment is extremely over priced.
Variable speed control helps me to control cutting on various types of application and materials. This tool is good at cutting. I'm not really impressed with the sanding option though. It is so precise and controlled, I don't have to worry about hurting myself or miss the cutting line. I don't know which one is the best, but I like my Fein. The grout and thinset removal blade is so useful.
Now other companies make similar products. Plunge cuts that requires precision, drywall jobs, fiber glass shower stall work etc. The blades are very expensive to just throw it away, so I use the new ones on wood and when it gets dull, I file it and use it for drywall cutting or demolition. If you need to replace just one or two tiles from the others, this is the perfect tool. But I use the cutting blade most of time. Such as Rockwell, Bosch, and even Dremel.
Great product for precise work.
I've had this tool for over a year now and really like it. With over 35 years of construction experience, I am familiar with power tools and this one is a good one. It does the kind of work other tools can't. The only down side is the high price of the blades and accessories.
